What to expect at your first class
Many children may feel very nervous and shy at their first class and knowing what to expect can help put your child at ease.
Please have your child dress in shorts and a t-shirt which allow movement and are not constricting. A community gi (uniform) is available to them when they arrive so they will fit in with the rest of the children already dressed in uniform.
Classes begin with a fast-paced and fun warm-up. After warming up, the instructors will begin to teach the daily techniques in an open setting. Children are encouraged to ask questions!
Most children are encouraged by the supportive environment and tend to relax. Some children prefer to watch at first, which they are also welcome to do.
We do not require sparring or competition in the class, but most kids look forward to trying their new techniques. We end each class with fun, cooperative games, which are always a hit with the kids.
